Rallies, Press Conferences and Media Appearances
The NQE Board of Directors organized and participated in a number of rallies and press conferences. We joined coalitions with other agencies affected by budget reductions to raise awareness and promote a grass roots effort to make positive change. Board members made appearances on local programs to inform the public encouraging them to participate.
While working through this period of budget reductions, the NQE board continued to work directly with schools and students throughout Nevada. We maintain to improve issues surrounding student achievement and success, NCLB, the State CRT, drop out/graduation rate, school climate, teacher quality/shortages and pay for performance.
Budget reductions are not new to K-12 education. Our efforts will persist in making greater strides for our students with fewer resources.

Nevada's Child Left Behind Education Rally
Was held Monday, March 16, 2009 at Valley High School football stadium in Las Vegas. Over 600 youth and adults attended to hear students speak about important programs impacting college and workforce readiness being cut in the 2009/10 school year and others on the chopping block. Nevada has traditionally ranked near the very bottom in K-12 per pupil funding in the United States. Recent budget reductions of over $180 million threaten to make us dead last. Should our legislators and governor continue to un-fund the K-12 budget, school districts in this state will make further reductions that will undoubtedly have a negative impact on all of our children.
Is keeping sports in schools more important than having qualified teachers?
Do we want mega class sizes or medical and culinary programs?
We should not have to choose. It is ALL important!
The rally was sponsored by: Nevadans for Quality Education, Dan Hart and Associates, American Cemetery Mortuary Consultants, Backflow Prevention Services, Inc. Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, Clark County Education Association, Clark County Association of School Administrators, Nevada State Education Association, TRENDZ, Nevada PEP, Nevada PTA, Clark County Democratic Black Caucus.
